Well I'm back from Gencon UK which was great fun. It's the first weekend since it finished and I finally have a little time to write about it.

I must say a huge thanks to Mel and all the Gencon staff who made all the artists feel comfortable and never left us needing anything! I can't wait for next year if I get an invite. All the other artists were great too, especially impressed with all the artwork on show!

I got loads of free stuff, including games, mugs and miniatures which is always good. Instead of linking to everyone's site I'll link to my girlfriends journal as she's already done all the links! Woot, saves me a job!

Ninja Cat

I found a couple of images that just make me smile.

There is however, a dark and sinister side to these images though. I think I've uncovered a secret cult of Black Ninja cats. They recruit suitably athletic kittens and train them in Ninja camps and what's more they are hell bent on the extermination of ginger coloured fur or indeed hair! I'm working on more evidence before I release the information to MI5, the FBI and the CIA.

Anyone know how to make these damned links work properly too? I want the pictures to show in my journal but I can't figure out the way to do it from the help  here on DA???

Save your work regularly (which I do) and keep a backup file (which I now do). It'll save you from the pain and misery of repeating a whole piece of work from scratch. Bloody hot weather crashed my PC.

Just finished working on a pencil drawing I'm gonna try and sell on eBay. I sold another similar sized piece last year and need some extra cash, so we'll see how it goes. My thinking behind the image was a bit here & there as I didn't really have a plan when I started drawing. Once I had the upper part of the figure drawn in I decided to have her seated on a grave stone. Then suddenly I thought it would be good to have her as a ghost? I don't know where that came from but it just did. The background I wanted to keep very plain and simple, mainly because I didn't want to spend too much time on the piece as eBay tends to have lower prices than most of the good artwork on there deserves.

I think the overall story behind the work is she's sitting on the grave of her husband who died on their wedding night. She vowed to stay by his side for ever more. Unfortunately the powers in the afterlife take vows very seriously so now she has to live an eternity in limbo.
